OLL  SCHOOL ADVISORY  BOARD  MEETING  MINUTES

APPROVAL OF MINUTES  It was moved by S. Ludlow and B. Hankey to approve the meeting minutes of September 19, 2007.

        Motion carried.

 

COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC  None                    

 

PARISH COUNCIL   None

 

FUNDRAISING    Carl reported:  

·         3,800 tickets sold for Oktoberfest.  1,500 were need to break even.

·         Planning continues for Oktoberfest that will be held on Sunday, October 21 from 2:00-8:00 p.m.         

·         The annual dinner dance will be held in January 2008 at White Lake Oaks. The night will feature an “Athletic Hall of Fame”. Laker alumni will be honored for their sporting achievements. 10 inductees have been identified for 2008.

·         The annual Silent Auction will be held in April 2008 and is expected to raise approximately $40,000.00.

·         Future fundraising efforts are to include a fall and spring raffle.

 

PTG   Barb Hankey reported that the walk-a-thon raised approximately $17,000-$18,000. Cinderella’s coach will be available during

Oktoberfest for photo ops.

 

BOOSTER CLUB  No Report

 

MARKETING:  Carl reported that he will be attending “Recruiting Night, November 2007 at St. Williams Parish.   New brochures

and packets were available for review.

 

INFORMATION/COMMUNICATION  No Report.

 

PRESIDENT’S  REPORT  Carl Reported:

·         Professional and Secretarial salary and benefit information was available for review.  This report outlined the school year and enrollment to total salaries and benefits.

·         Enrollment as of October 17, 2007 is at 640.

·         Upcoming Events

o        October 21, 2007 Oktoberfest

o        October 23, 2007 Visit form Monsignor Zenz, 1-12 Mass

o        October 24, 2007 NHS Honors Night

o        October 26, 2007 Middle School Disco and Activity Night

o        November 2, 2007 First Quarter Ends

o        Week of November 5-Conferences.

·         Waterford Shared Teacher Program: we are in the process of obtaining new teachers in Art and Music.  Waterford is attempting to charge OLL $16,000 for the teachers’ services.

·         Carl met with the supervisor of the cleaning crew to review the crews cleaning deficiencies.

·         A company was contacted to evaluate the current P.A. system in the old gym.

·         An alumnus has volunteered to evaluate the outside doors and determine the feasibility of installing additional locking systems for increased security.

 

                   

BUDGET COMMITTEE    No report

 

ELECTION COMMITTEE No report

 

OLD BUSINESS   Nothing to report/discuss

 

NEW BUSIBESS    Possibility of forming a committee to resolve the current computer shortage/obsolete problem in the grade

school.  This would include the possibility of finding a way to resolve the current expense dedicated to the annual

licensing renewals.
