WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2007

President – Mick Puma                         Vice President – Laura Ludlow

Treasurer – Christi Simiele                                Secretary – Mary Gaissert

OPENING PRAYER – 7:04 led by Julie Sartori.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Julie Sartori mentioned that PTG is creating a manual of all tasks with a timeline needed to prepare for the Walkathon.  This will be helpful for future years.  She also reported the following upcoming events:

  • Halloween party with a parade and trick or treating will take place on October 31st during school hours.  PTG will provide the candy.
  • Iowa testing this week for grades 1, 3, and 5
  • Meap test after this week for Middle School
  • Box tops for contest are due October 15th
  • Scholastic book fair will be after Thanksgiving in the multipurpose room
  • A Plus Teacher store is offering a game night in St. Joseph Hall as a fundraiser.  Watch for more information on this event.
  • The author of “bucket fillers” is available to come in for a student presentation on November 12th.  This will assist in teaching students manners.  Julie suggested that this is a worthwhile event that we should do sooner rather than later.  All in attendance agreed that PTG should pay for the bucket fillers student presentation in lieu of an author during March Reading month.

SECRETARY’S REPORT

Copies of the minutes from the September 10, 2007 meeting were presented by Mary Gaissert.  Mary noted that the adds in the All School Directory were not correct.  The correct costs are $100 for ¼ page, $175 for ½ page, $300 for full page and $400 for front or back cover.   Motion was made by Diane Bono to accept minutes with no changes, deletions or additions.  Christie Simiele seconded.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Copies of the Treasurer’s Report for September were presented by Christi Simiele.  Christie noted the income deposited so far from the walkathon is just over $15,000.  Expenses were about $900, but we have not paid for the buses or the Tshirts yet.   More money was expected to trickle in over the next couple of weeks.  Motion was made by Laura Ludlow to accept the Treasurer’s report with no changes, deletions or additions.  Nichole Campbell seconded.

DISCUSSION TOPICS

Walkathon – The winner of the walkathon pledges will be announced October 9th.  Not much was pledged from OLL alumni, but did cover the cost of stamps.  Discussion ensued about communication and planning issues.  It was again noted that PTG will put together a manual that will assist next year’s walkathon.

All School Directory – Nancy Verheyen was unable to attend the meeting, but submitted a written status.  Directory is at the printer and would be back in a couple of weeks.  At that time she would need to submit to them the ads.  It was decided that we would order 700 copies of the director again this year.

Oktoberfest – Mick asked if PTG should sell pumpkins at the Oktoberfest.  We could also decorate an area for photo opportunities.  Karen Wyns volunteered to man the booth, possibly with drama students.   Karen Wyns motioned that we sell pumpkins at the Oktoberfest.  Julie Sartori seconded.

Rolladium night – The next OLL Rolladium night will be January 24th from 6:30 – 8:30.

Chuck E Cheese night – Julie Sartori will ask Nancy Linton to secure a date as some parents have been asking about doing this again.

CLOSING PRAYER – 8:15 – Next PTG meeting will be Wednesday, November 7th at 7:00 pm.   If you do not find us in the Elementary School Library, we will be in one of the classrooms which offer more room.  Look for a note on the door.  The main topic will be the Turkey Shoot.
