OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 2010 ACCREDITATION – March 10-12.  Members of the Accreditation Team will be visiting our school next week, March 10-12.  Members include active, as well as retired teachers, several Principals from other Catholic Schools and Associate Superintendents from the Archdiocese of Detroit.  The team will be visiting our school and interviewing parents, students and staff regarding school programs and policies.  This is an exciting time for our school to highlight our strengths and work toward a stronger O.L.L. School for tomorrow.  If you are approached by a team member or receive a phone call, please be honest with your responses.  Thank you in advance for your support!

 

2010-2011 REGISTRATION PACKETS WENT HOME LAST WEEK -  ONE PACKET PER FAMILY 

If you do not receive a registration packet, please call the school office immediately.  (If you receive an extra, please return to the school office.)  The completed Registration Form, Payment Preference Form & Registration Fee (check) in the amount of $350.00 per family are due by Friday, March 12.

 

Please list ALL students who will attend O.L.L. Schools next year, grades Pre-K-12.  Please be sure to include child’s middle name and birth date on the form.  If a student will be new, please write “NEW” in the LEFT margin next to his/her name.

 

*FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTSWe plan to offer a full day, 5 days a week or a second option is half-day, 5 days a week (8:55 until noon).   Please indicate next to Grade K if you prefer All Day or Half Day Kindergarten.

 

FOR PRE-SCHOOL STUDENTSWe plan to offer a 5-day Multi-age program (9:00-11:30 a.m.  Monday - Friday), a 3-day and a 2-day (9-11:30) Multi-age program (flex schedule - to be determined at August orientation).  Please indicate on your registration form which program you prefer.

 

REMINDER!! TUITION INCENTIVE FOR FAMILIES – Reminder: If you bring a new family to OLL and they enroll their children at OLL, you will receive a $250.00 tuition credit. The only catch is that they must enroll and mention your name (or attach a note) at the time of enrollment to receive the tuition credit. For obvious reasons we cannot make this offer retroactive. This offer is for current families who are instrumental in getting a new family to join our Laker School Community for the 2010-2011 school year.

 

 

LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA KITS – Please note:  Due date has been extended to Wednesday, March 10.  Delivery date has been changed to Tuesday, March 16.  If you turned in an order form and would like to add additional orders, please call Janie Similuk, 248-682-3356.  Extra Pizza Kit order forms are also available in the school offices.

Special Note to all 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students – This Pizza Kit sale will count toward end of year camp/class trips.  For every item sold, you will receive a credit of $5.00 to be used for your class events.  Parents, if you do not have a student in one of the above grades but would like to give your credits to a particular student, please indicate on your order form the student’s name and grade.  Thank you for your order.

 

MARCH IS READING MONTH – We will be planning some fun activities during the month of March.  Stay tuned for further updates!  If your child’s teacher sent home a reading request form, please consider signing up for a time to read to the class.  Thank you.

 

BLUE CREW T-SHIRT SALES -  The High School Student Council is again sponsoring Blue Crew t-shirt sales.  An order form will be coming home with all elementary students this week.  Blue Crew t-shirts are a great way to show your Laker spirit!!!  All t-shirt orders are due to the elementary school office by Wednesday, March 17th.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Janie Similuk at (248) 682-3356 (home) or (586) 295-5297 (cell).

CHARITY POKER AT SHARK CLUB ON M-59  HELP!! VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED.  Please consider volunteering for this fun-filled activity.  And remember, without parent volunteers, this important fundraiser will not be possible.  If you are interested in helping, but are not sure if it is right for you, please take a minute to talk to Mrs. Longo, Mrs. Marcinkowski or Mrs. Hoffman.  They all volunteered during the last round of poker dates and are anxious to tell you about the wonderful experiences.  If you have any availability to help on March 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th OR March 22nd, 23rd, 24th or 25th between the hours of 12 pm - 2 am, please contact Janie Similuk at (248) 682-3356 or jnjsimiluk7@att.net.

 

 

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS GOES OUT TO EMMA HOFFMAN AND MADDIE SHUBECK, BOTH IN 5TH GRADE!!  As members of the Stars and Stripes Liberty Cheer Team, they competed this past weekend at Walt Disney World.  They were AMAZING!  The team placed 1st in competition and earned the top score in their level.  They also received an invitation to be part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York this November.  WOW!! What an honor.  Congratulations Emma and Maddie – GREAT JOB!!

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO KENNEDY MULL, THIRD GRADE!  Kennedy had her 1st gymnastics competition this past weekend and placed 6th on floor and 8th on bars.  WAY TO GO KENNEDY!!

 

GIRL SCOUTS MAKING EASTER BASKETS – G.S. Troop 2014 is making Easter Baskets for the children at the Pontiac Center of Hope Shelter.  There are 43 children on our list, ranging in age from 8 mos. to 17 years, both boys and girls.  Each basket contains age appropriate items such as candy, gum, snacks, toys, books, puzzle books, health care items (travel sizes of toiletries) and clothes (hats, gloves, socks, t-shirts, etc.)  Any contributions for this project would be greatly appreciated.  The baskets will be put together the week of March 23 and delivered to the shelter.  Questions?  Please call Krista Rozanski, 248-543-5534 or Cecilia Gallmeyer, 248-666-3891.

 

DRAMA CLUB NEWS – Attention 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students.  The High School Drama Department would like your help with their annual spring play.  If you are interested in singing and dancing in the play, please have your parent(s) attend the information meeting next Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m.  If you have questions, please contact Ms. Noeske in the high school, 248-623-0340.

 

MARKET DAY ORDER FORMS COMING HOME TODAY – Please note that due to Easter Vacation, our order time is shorter than usual.  Orders are due in the office by Friday, March 19 or you can place online orders until 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23.  Delivery date is Monday, March 29.
